RTX 3090 VS 3080 VS 3070: WHICH ONE IS BEST
On September 1, 2020, Nvidia announced that the RTX 3000 series of graphics processors, titled RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090, will be available soon. These graphics cards incorporate Nvidia’s new Ampere architecture, and the PC gaming industry as a whole was very excited about the prospects of these new graphics machines. The RTX 3080 and 3090 are expected to hit the market on September 17 and 24, respectively, and the RTX 3070 will not be released until October.
In line with Nvidia’s traditional naming conventions, the higher the number, the better the performance. The RTX 3090 produces performance better than the RTX 3080, which is better than the RTX 3070. Compared to the previous generation (i.e. the RTX 20 series), the 3090 performs 50% better than its predecessor, the Titan RTX. The 3080 performs 100% better than the 2080, and the RTX 3070 performs 60% better than the RTX 2070.
But in addition to comparing previous graphics cards, how do these graphics cards compare to each other in terms of the most important features such as price, performance, and design? RTX 3070 VS 3080 VS 3090 – THE DIFFERENCE
In large numbers, the raw data of these graphics cards makes the RTX 3090 the best of the three on paper. Of course, we will see in the next section that this will be converted to performance. However, for now, let’s compare and contrast the numbers brought to the table for each of these graphics cards.
At the upper end of the spectrum, we have a chip beast on the RTX 3090. It comes with 10496 CUDA cores, while its second-class RTX 3080 comes with 8704 CUDA cores. At the lower end of the spectrum, the RTX 3070 has a 5888 CUDA core, which is amazing compared to other GPUs today.
In terms of memory, the RTX 3090 comes with 24GB GDDR6X, while the RTX 3080 has 10GB GDDR6X, which slightly outperforms the RTX 3070 with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. For the memory bus, the RTX 3090 runs at 384 bits, while the RTX 3080 runs at 320 bits, which is more than the 256 bits of the RTX 3070.
One common ground that the three GPUs share is their PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) interface, and all three chips are 4.0 x16 in size. The other common feature of the three chips is their display output, and all three support HDMI 2.1 3 x DisplayPort 1.4.
RTX 3090 VS 3080 VS 3070 – PERFORMANCE
When it comes to the performance of each GPU, the aforementioned specifications are responsible for its performance. The 24X VRAM capacity of the RTX 3090 means twice as much video random access memory, which means it has almost twice as much storage space for image data. The RTX 3090’s high-speed GDDR6X memory runs at 19.5GBPS, slightly different from the RTX 3080’s 19GBPS. The RTX 3080 can comfortably handle a 4K game at 60fps (frames per second), while breaking the performance by offering an 8K game with 60 frames of the same size at 3090 seconds.
The RTX 3070 is lighter than the 3090 and lags slightly behind the 3080 in terms of performance. The game has a fairly powerful GPU, but unlike the 3080 and 3090, it doesn’t outperform the task. Capable of playing games at 1440p and 60fps. It can run 4K games like 3080.

Again, the design of these GPUs should be somewhat larger. In terms of physical design, the RTX 3090 measures 313 x 138 mm and has a maximum size of 3 slots. It measures 285 x 112mm and boasts the 3080’s two-slot model, both of which take up more space than the 3070’s 242 x 112mm and have two slots.
Another important aspect of the design of these GPUs is power and cooling. Both the RTX 3090 and 3080 are more powerful than the latest Nvidia GPUs (i.e., the RTX 20 series). The 3090 card is designed to require 350 watts, while the 3080 requires 300 watts, 300 watts to more than 20 watts, and 320 watts. Nvidia claims new graphics processors, up to 55% airflow, 3 times less noise, and 30% more efficiency than previous models.
SO WHICH GPU SHOULD YOU BUY?
Buying the best GPU is often based on a case-by-case version of the use. If you’re a gamer, you’ll do just fine with the RTX 3070. It handles anything you throw away perfectly and doesn’t leave a hole in your pocket. However, if you are looking for a little extra, the 3080 will work the same for you. This is of course better than the 3070, but in most cases, the difference is not so noticeable, as the 3070 runs most games without much effort.
The RTX 3090 is a bit of an exaggeration, and if you’re not a very aggressive player, you’re probably not going to get anything out of the ordinary from the 3090 to the 3080.
